Horizon Europe Program

The Horizon Europe program, along the same lines as its predecessor Horizon 2020, aims to lay the foundations for a European Union research and innovation framework structure for the period 2021-2027. It is an ambitious project budgeted at a total of 95,517 million whose main objective is to reinforce the position of the European Union as a world leader in science, innovation, and technology by strengthening the competitiveness of all Member States so that, in the end, Europe becomes more attractive to investment in research and innovation.

This edition of the Horizon Europe Program is fundamentally structured on three main pillars; firstly, the financing, through the European Council, of research projects at the frontier of knowledge, designed and directed by researchers, also promoting the training of personnel dedicated to research through functional and territorial mobility activities.

On the other hand, it aims to localize the focus of investment in research aimed at social challenges, to strengthen technological capabilities to address specific objectives in the field of major global challenges such as health, climate, mobility, and security.

Finally, the third objective of the Horizon Europe Program is to support innovation, entrepreneurs, SMEs, and leading scientists with the ambition to grow on an international scale, thus making Europe a powerhouse in market-creating innovation.

All this is planned to be developed in a horizontal framework, broadening participation, and strengthening the European Research Area, whose objective is to assist Member States in their efforts to develop their internal research and innovation potential, focusing and strengthening especially those with a lower performance in this regard.
